June 2005

Summer is here, and for many, that means it’s travel season. I’ll admit I’m a bit envious of friends and acquaintances who are jet-setting around the globe this summer. I have too many commitments and too little money make a fabulous vacation happen for myself.

But that’s why I’m so excited about this month’s issue of Nirali—because it does the traveling for you. In "Coconut Trees and Owl Babies," Sindya Narayanaswamy takes us to a magical place in Bangalore, India—and shows us how a little compassion can go a long way. Do you want to visit exotic destinations in the Himalayas but lack the time or money to do so? You’ll love "Gateway to the Himalayas" (and should consider checking out the Torana Club event on June 30). And don’t miss "Jet-Set Jewels" by jewelry designer Robindira Unsworth. Her luxurious jewelry is inspired by far-flung destinations such as London, Jordan, India and Big Sur.

So even if you can’t get away this season, take a few hours to get into Nirali. We’re sure you’ll find it a destination worth visiting.
